In Northwest Indiana we are near these counties.  In LaPorte County: Michigan City, LaPorte.  In St. Joseph County, South Bend, In Elkhart County: Elkhart. In Porter County: Chesterton, Valparaiso. In Lake County: Merrillville, Hobart.  In Kusciusko County: Nappanee, Warsaw, Wawasee.  In Marshall County, Plymouth, Lakeville, Lapaz, Argos, Culver.  In Starke County, Koontz Lake, Knox, Bass Lake.

As you see, In NW IN we are not far from Goshen, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, LaFayette.  Or the counties of Cass, Wabash, Jasper, Newton, Whitely, Pulaski, Fulton, LaGrange.

In fact, one of our favorite drives out is to famous Shippshewana.  In Michigan we are often in Saugatuck which is near Grand Haven, Grand Rapids, Holland, Allegan, Berrien Springs, New Buffalo, Harbor Country.

Indiana and Michigan are on Lake Michigan, near Ohio and Illinois.  Though we are in a rural area, Chicago, Illinois and suburbs is not even two hours away.  But we never ever go there.

And now you have some idea of our tromping grounds, where we go to auctions, flea markets, festivals, shopping in Shippshe, go for breakfast at a coffee shop called Corner Cup Cafe in Walkerton or to a cool little diner in Culver near the Culver Military Academy on Lake Maxinkuckee, then cruise past Ancilla College and by the twin ponds then down through Menimonee Forest for a stroll.  The area we live allows pet skunks, our  favorite sweeties.  We also love Newfoundland dogs.   Pontoon rides, rowing, biking, organic gardening, farmer markets, photography, birding.  Our space is all about the birds and wildlife and garden.  It is all about the simple stuff really.

We are also connected to Saugatuck, Michigan which is on Lake Michigan, in a sense.  You can breathe it in.  Saugatuck is an artist community with quiet time during off season making life the most pleasant experience.  The world there is so expansive that all one needs is a tiny piece of it to feel like they are at the center of something very special.
