This is not me. I only wish my eyes had been so open. It was almost like sleeping for a year.

throughout the region, I centered on a career in writing with book and website design.  The change was about the economy, second.   The primary reason was due to my inability to drive and stay alert, even after waking in the morning.

Now, I had been tired for quite some time, but moving furniture and the demanding hours of my antique business was suspect.

Until I constantly fell asleep whole sitting in front of the computer, even after a good night of rest.

Searching symptoms landed me on one CFS symptom site after another.  For those with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, they know the ‘get behind the wheel and drop syndrome’ along with ‘nodding off for no good reason when eating with a friend’.  Worse, exhaustion so great the friend comes over and has to cook.  Holiday decor hanging around until March.  I was almost there.

Healthwise, I had only been mildly hypothyroid-challenged according to tests.   I had anemia just after a pregnancy.  Other than that – good to go at forty-something.  Tests said I was just fine.

After a month of falling asleep at the computer and not being able to drive at all, my hubby was connected with a man who suggested trace minerals, particularly Maximol Solutions by Neways.  Hubby ordered a bottle, and every four hours he brought to me a sip of Maximol.

I woke up.

Yes.  After a few days, I was able to work without falling asleep, and a few weeks later I dared drive and did not feel challenged to stay alert.

Was it menopause?

Well, I was definitely in my peri-menopause phase. There are some challenges with peri-menopause that I know I went through unaware of what was hitting me or how to balance my well-being.

Sometime it is too difficult to differentiate the hypothyroidism from peri-menopause and progesterone deficiency.  But the entire solution for me is to live in the answer on all levels, after all, it is one body.  Mine.  Through my correspondence with other women, I realize we are all dealing with a combination of challenges but I also know that none of us are on the right path to our answers if we are chronically tired or feeling terrible.  And while sleep is the best healer, I believe, there is nothing like the right nutritional support and hormone balance before taking that long long nap.

Menopause in my novels is explored as a time when women are given the chance to pluck their gifts from life.  We are all gifted somewhere, some how from the beginning.  It’s just that when women reach menopause, the date of menopause itself, the time comes for the spiritual blessing, a universal blessing that expounds upon those gifts in such as way that there is no explanation.

What I mean is that whatever was before, now is given greater intensity – but only if we are willing to take on the gift.  Some of spend our lives running, ignoring, turning it around so we do not need to look at the full face of our spiritual gift.  Some of us are born running with it in a bag at our side, trying to use the gift before it is ready to be unleashed.  Perhaps because we have not hones the talent and skill required for use? Perhaps because we do not have the courage needed to face the terms?

The Age of Menopause Blog will
