- Testosterone explanation – how this changes your hair volume and regrowth. Androgens – the male hormones – increase when estrogen levels decrease which can cause another form of hair loss, androgenic alopecia. This is when the androgen known as dihydrotestosterone, or DHT binds to your hair follicles to force them into a premature resting phase. The excessive testosterone causes your new hair to grow thinner with each cycle of hair growth. Testosterone will also shrink hair follicles and cause hair loss. But menopause will counter this with a greater production of hair on the face. This is a strong clue you need to balance your estrogen by taking more natural progesterone – the progesterone tips the scales whether there is low estrogen or high estrogen.

Hair products as hair stressors?
Hair Products Distress — The root cause of hair thinning.
It was discovered several years ago that the major culprit for hair loss is Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) or the ethoxylated version, Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES). It has been kept very quiet because the main ingredient in 99% of shampoos is SLS – check this out for yourselves. Fancy putting a chemical in shampoo that has been proven to make your hair fall out! The reason they insist on using SLS is because it is an extremely cheap degreaser.
Also in the body, a compound called Dihydrotostesterone (DHT) – (made up of water, cholesterol, testosterone and an enzyme) has an adverse affect on the growth receptors in the hair follicle. It causes the tiny blood vessels in the papilla to shrink, restricting food and oxygen to the matrix that produces hair protein. DHT also blocks receptors in the sebaceous gland, which then produces a thick heavy sebum that later hardens in the follicle to form a plug. The hair, being restricted in both areas, atrophies and falls out.
The bottomline is the health of the hair follicle.
The hormone imbalances during menopause, thyroid, stress… these can cause changes in the hair follicle and cause the premature follicle death and hair loss that follows.
But hair care products can also cause changes in the follicle that is struggling for its health and right to hold tight to the hair in its grasp.

- The life of a hair follicle is three to seven years.
- That is a long time for a newly grown hair shaft to hold its own.

Oil, Soil and Sebum Deposits on the Follicle
Sebum is the only natural here, the oil from the gland through the hair follicle to create shiny, more waterproof hair. But too much of a good thing clogs just the same.

Hair Growth Hope – Summary
When the hair falls out after three to seven years it is replaced by a new follicle. Did you realize that. These follicles are live tissue, a live stem to the hair and a source of treatment to be certain the follicle is as healthy and clear as possible.
